It annoyed me i couldn't find this atmosphere anywhere here, so i decided to build this for you: remember the classic "thunder rolls then a wolf howls" sound bed used on so many kids' shows back in the 1970's? well, here you go! this is uses the classic thunderclap by a freesound user whose name i can't remember but will ad when i do remember, some more classic moaning wind by me, a retro wolf howl performed by yours truly with added reverb on top. Use freely and enjoy.

Rain is falling on the river vltava in prague. Later in the recording, a distant thunder is audible. Recorded with an olympus ls-11.

There was a dry thunderstorm 10 km far away from the dictaphone this dawn (27th of may 2014). You can hear crickets and dogs barking in the distance as well. Recorded in nighttime by sony stereo dictaphone.

This sounds as if it were staged by hollywood, but it actually did happen, i swear! birds chirp away to set the scene, but a beefy thunder roll intrudes. Soon after, raindrops begin to fall as if on cue. Theres a little handling noise click in the begining that is easy to crop out if you like. The recording is unedited. At 1:35 i move the mics closer to the deck so you can hear the splashing. At about at 3:10 i you’ll hear a different timbre as i move away from the rain and under an awning. About 3:45 the rain settles down and the birds start chirping again. Hopefully there are some useful segments in here. Recorded with a dead cat on a tascam dr-05 at 48khz 24 bit, then compressed with “lame --preset insane --scale 10” to make up for the low gain i used (i was afraid a thunderclap would engage the limiter). Thunderstorm, late night with rain falling on a quiet urban neighborhood side street of a large u. S. City. 4:30. The rain decreases over the recording. Good bits of distant thunder. Distant sirens in the last half of the recording. Some distant traffic noise, and a couple of cars passing close. I didn't notice until afterwards that i had the recorder set in mp3 format. Given another chance i'd redo as a 48/24 wav, but it doesn't rain all that often here, and the quality on this recording is still very good, 192kbps. Zoom h4n - mp3 - 44. 1/16.

Really hard rain and hail--about the size of airsoft pellets/peas--with occasional rumbles of thunder. Me walking home recording under an umbrella during a rainy evening with some thunder. Umbrella bonked the staircase door-window when i entered the staircase of to my flat. Isolated door sound in same pack.

Night storm in evosmo-thessaloniki (part 1) with more than 30 lightning strikes and thunders in a period of 20 minutes. This is a recording of a storm from the balcony of the living room in the province of rieti in italy on wednesday 8 september 2021, where various noises such as lightning, thunder, heavy rain, a bit of wind and even an ambulance and a bulldozer working in distance. This recording was done with the shure mv88 plus stereo microphone connected to my iphone 12 pro.
